About
As the psychedelic renaissance unfolds, I see both the extraordinary promise of these medicines and the profound responsibility that comes with working in expanded states of consciousness. People deserve access to accurate education, thoughtful preparation, harm-reduction guidance, safe trip-sitting practices, and skilled integration support. In my work as a clinical psychologist, I founded one of the first Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy practices in Northern California. Through facilitating more than 4,000 sessions with clients in ketamine-induced expanded states, I have witnessed firsthand how the unconscious mind holds essential material for healing, self-discovery, and conscious growth. Again and again, I have seen individuals access insights, emotions, memories, and inner wisdom that may remain outside of ordinary awareness, creating opportunities for profound transformation when approached with proper support and integration. My own journey with plant medicine began in the rainforests of West Africa decades ago, where I lived and served as a Peace Corps volunteer. There, I witnessed the ceremonial use of iboga and observed its role in healing, community, and spiritual practice. The experience shaped my understanding of plant medicines as catalysts for transformation and healing. Years later, I continued this exploration by studying energy healing with a shaman in Brazil. Looking back, my path toward becoming a psychologist was also a path toward a deeper understanding of human consciousness, healing, and the psyche. I am a Certified Psychedelic-Assisted Therapist and Facilitator, having completed an intensive year-long training program through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute. This immersive training explored the historical, cultural, and spiritual roots of entheogenic medicine—from ancient ceremonial traditions to emerging evidence-based clinical applications—while providing extensive education in preparation, facilitation, and integration practices.
